Lucia Fischer (*1991) is an artist whose life has been shaped by a deep engagement with diverse cultures and environments. Born into a life of constant movement, she has lived in regions ranging from the deserts of the Middle East to the tropical landscapes of Southeast Asia, with formative experiences across Europe and North America. In 2021, she settled in Basel, Switzerland, marking a pivotal chapter in her artistic journey.

Fischer’s global experiences serve as the cornerstone of her artistic vision. Her work reflects the lush plant life of humid jungles and captures the interplay of hues, tones, and gradients that cascade across her subjects’ skin, evoking the shifting sands illuminated by desert light.

Initially steered away from her passion for art, Fischer was compelled by her family to pursue “practical” studies, earning a degree in cinematography and screenwriting in 2012. While this path diverged from her true calling, it honed her storytelling abilities, which now enrich her art. In 2015, she began studying Fine Arts at UP Diliman but left after two years, feeling constrained by the academic framework. Determined to follow her own vision, she launched her independent art career.

In 2016, Fischer debuted with Asexual Adoration, a solo exhibition that introduced her thought-provoking work to the Philippine art scene. Her recognition grew with successive showcases at the Manila Art Fair in 2020 and 2021, culminating in a celebrated presence in the local art world.

Her 2024 exhibition, Shame on You, Shame on Me, held at ELEVEN TEN STUDIO, marked her first major presentation outside the Philippines. This event signified the beginning of a new phase in her career, one defined by expanding horizons and deeper connections with a global audience.
