Four paintings, the main parts of the exhibition Till death do us part, are large, vertical works.
The 16:9 ratio is a heavy and rather uncommon format for canvas. But after all, the internet loves vertical images (and videos, of course). Both the canvases and the massive frames are custom made because everything has to match and create a cohesive aesthetic, like an Instagram feed.
Four paintings and four black screens, partly inspired by Black Mirror, partly by the real world. Four black screens: a phone, a tablet, a laptop and a TV. The TV, which of course is already old, but really it all started with it, like the grandfather of YouTube, the uncle of Instagram.
Nowadays, TV has become the best friend for many older people. Not very mobile with a small or non-existent circle of friends, and family visiting only during holidays, TV serves as their daily companion and often the only window to the world.
